Knowing the God You Serve
It is amazing to me that I have lived and worshiped this long having not read the bible. I have read select scriptures. I grew up reading bible stories in isolation. I pay attention in church BUT, I have never read the bible. I am very aware of the arguments that most will present about the bible, its creation, its authenticity. I have heard and listened to many-a-perspective. I, personally, believe in the book and recognize that it is impossible to continue to grow in my relationship with God without my own knowledge of "the word". I trust my pastor to giuide me. It is high time that I...the poet and English teacher...trust myself to read to interpret the stories of the bible. I am happy to say that I will know the God that I serve by the end of 2011. I want to thank Erin S. for inviting me to "befriend Jesus" in 365 days and for Brian K. for encouraging me to read and to listen CDs on this journey. This blog will be "All Things Rebecca Dupas"...It will not focus solely on religion but on whatever is pertinent to me at the time. I look forward to hearing from you all.

I am happy to know that you want to know the God you serve! Knowing someone is the very most important step in creating a lasting relationship with anyone, especially God. I hope that we can grow together in accurate knowledge of God and his Son Jesus Christ (John 17:3) This will be a course that the Devil will "pull out all the stops" in an effort to discourage you and keep you away from the light of God. I will be prayerful that God uses his Holy Spirit to guide you and comfort you....
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prayers and the encouragement, BK.
ReplyDeleteHey Ms.Dupas like u, I am takin this walk through Kthe word" I am readin Lev. It is breakin down history and families. This is important to allow u to see how the "Faith walk" is important. I often pray for Faith like Abraham, Aaron n Moses. Their faith allows u to see Gods work. He knows the paths he would like us to take and he shows us how to get there. We just have to believe. So we r on this journey together. Every mornin....prayer n readin. Evenin same thing......
ReplyDeleteFYI......LUV THE BLOG
ReplyDelete@tiff: I am following a 365 blog with my homegirl, and it isn't easy. I am working on the committment aspect. I haven't gotten into a rhythm yet. I can't wait until I do...when the day doesn't feel write without a morning/evening prayer and reading :)
ReplyDeleteI agree to what was said by Mr. Brian and you. Its a wonderful journey. I have my ups and down and so will you. Faith and trust in God is the key. When you start seeking God the devil is at his best, but he is not greater then his creator. So count your blessings and not your mistake and get guidance when needed.
ReplyDelete@Horace: Thank you for bringing light to that statement. I had not truly considered that the devil would certainly try to intervene in such a journey. But, you are right. He is not greater than his creator. Ha!
